Side Hustle

I was 9 years old when I started my first side Hustle.

Let me explain, my dad was a bit of entrepreneur, we lived in England and he was always hustling, starting this business or trying to earn extra money on the side. One thing my dad had was an appetite for hard work, he would never stop. He had it spades.

One of his side hustles was when he was working as salesman for a drapery store.

His job was to go around to the customer who had bought from the stop on credit and collect the payments, usually weekly. While doing this he also had to sell new offers that the company might have, again on credit so the cycle would continue.

So there was a established customer base he would see on a regular base. This is where he started to sell produce to the clients such as potatoes so there was no conflict of interest with the products.  So he would buy sack of potatoes wholesale from a farmer and repackage into smaller bags, with a margin on top.

I would help dad break down the hessian bags, weight up the potatoes into 1lb and 2lb lots and bagging them up for sale.

One day I asked my dad if I could do the same selling to the neighbors…… so my first side hustle began. Dad would sell me enough potatoes to get started and off I went. While this wasn’t a million venture it taught me so much regarding business, selling, distribution and being nice to my dad ahahahah.

A Side Hustle is a great way to make some extra money and get the most out of your free time. It can be anything from viral social media creator to digital product sales, test apps, and online surveys. You can even watch Fargo, become a self-publishing ebook creator, or start a YouTube channel.

Shares are a typical example of a passive income. Lets say buy $1000.00 worth of shares in a company each year they will pay you a dividend say $50.00 that’s a 5% return on your investment and you haven’t had to do any work for the dividend.

We are not advocating this is the return you should expect from any investment in the stock market as it could be less or even more, however it is a good example of a passive income.

Investing real estate other a wide range of investment models from flipping to long term hold and collecting the rent from properties you own. You can employ a real estate agent to find the tenant and collect the rent and manage any repairs.

In reality most people who make passive income actually put in some hard yards first to get the money machine ticking over.

For instance a making a course on your favorite subject can make you a lot of money if it kicks off. But first you will need to write the course and record it….. in some cases and as new information becomes to hand then you will need to refresh the course.

However on the whole the reward for effort can be very rewarding financially if you are prepared to put the work in to make passive income.
